Cutwater Spirits Distillery

Location: 9750 Distribution Ave, San Diego, CA 92121

A unique local San Diego distillery restaurant serving up spirits and cocktails along with a delicious menu of yummy American classics with a twist!

Recently, we’ve been on the hunt for some good grub scouting out the local San Diego brewery scene and came across this wonderful place! Located in a nondescript business industrial side of town, Cutwater Spirits was a great find if you’re looking for some good old American burgers and fun drinks apart from the usual beer.

First off this place is HUGE! As you walk in you are greeted by the sound of a fountain literally ‘cutting the water’ in the corner of the nautical themed building. Then as you enter you see a giant wall of awards…you know you’re in for something good!

This place distills their own whiskey, tequila, vodka, gins, rums etc… and creates classic and cool drinks as canned cocktails like their Tiki Rum Mai Tai and Tequila Margarita! Not to mention they have a great spread of food, and while the menu is small everything we ordered was great!

So to start things off with an appetizer, you can’t pass up on their wings! The Crispy Wings were sooo good, not heavily breaded at all like some places and perfectly crunchy and moist! We couldn’t decide on the sauce so we asked to have the habanero buffalo sauce and Barrel Aged Rum mustard BBQ sauce on the side. Plus they served this with a house made mac salad!

Next up our cocktail arrived…a delicious glass of Rum Mint Mojito! As someone who doesn’t drink much, this went down very easily and was ultra refreshing on a hot day.

Okay on with the mains! We had the Devils Share Burger which comes with a black charcoal bun and filled with a beef patty, arugula, crispy fried onions, aged white cheddar, Devil’s Share Bourbon bacon jam, garlic aioli. YUMMY! The burger was super tasty and juicy and don’t worry no charcoal flavor from the buns haha!

The other burger we ordered was the special of the day, can’t quite remember the name but it’s a thick beef patty topped with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and caramelized onions. A good combo with a nice serving of crispy fries as well!

Overall, we really like this place for the seating atmosphere, delicious drinks, and great classic food done right! Will definitely go back to try out some of their other menu items.
